Here’s a mini-landscape I created last April as part of an art project I did during spring 2020 lockdown. My dear friend @madamvoodoolily and I each took turns coming up with ideas for creative assignments and then we each interpreted the assignment and then shared our creative results with each other. We kept it going for a good couple months. It was a really great experience and definitely helped in getting through the situation.

Baiting a mockingbird! This raven was actually helping out a juvenile Cooper’s hawk who was being harassed by the mockingbird for quite sometime as it sat in a nearby pine tree making distress calls. Young hawks often sit and call for their parents for weeks this time of year hoping to continue being fed by them. 80% of young hawks don’t live past their first year due to starvation. It’s a rough life!
I watched the scene for about 20 minutes. A pair of ravens flew around the tree and landed near the hawk. They directed comforting sounds at the hawk, and then continually baited the mockingbird to fly after them. Thank you for helping out the hawk Mr & Mrs Raven!

This sweet, super cute, friendly and lovable boy showed up in my yard last month, having clearly been abandoned. I placed food & water in the yard for him daily and attended to his wound. Long story short, I’m excited to share that after spending much time and energy trying to find him a home, a rescue organization stepped up and offered to take him in, attend to all of his veterinary needs, and will then place him with a perfect foster! So happy for our little fur man! :)
